Langdock alternative for machine builders.
Langdock is a broad platform companies use to provide AI to their employees: chat with many models, their own agents, workflows. What happens with it in project delivery, each company builds itself. KoAssist, the AI agent for machine and plant builders from Vienna, starts exactly where the project status is scattered across Excel, OneNote and emails. KoAssist reads the specification, emails and minutes for every project, keeps the status with sources and puts up what needs deciding, from the first specification and without anyone having to build an agent.
How do KoAssist and Langdock differ?
| Criterion | KoAssist | Langdock |
|---|---|---|
| What it is at its core | An AI agent that keeps the status of every project | A platform on which a company rolls out chat, its own agents and workflows |
| Scope | Projects in machine and plant building: specification, profile, schedule, drawings | The whole company, no industry singled out |
| Getting started | Upload the specification or connect the project folder, the profile builds itself | Agents are set up per use case: instructions, knowledge, actions |
| Sources in answers | Every item with file and page | Not described as a general feature; some templates cite sources |
| CAD, PDM, PLM | Interfaces to ERP, PDM and PLM, drawing check against your own guidelines | No statement on CAD, drawings, PDM or PLM on the pages we read |
| Integrations | SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Drive, Outlook, network drive | 57 integrations with 754 actions, plus MCP |
| Permissions | Come from your file stores | Mirrored 1:1 from the source systems |
| Hosting and evidence | Hosting in German data centres (ISO 27001), DPA under Art. 28 GDPR, no training on your data | EU hosting via Microsoft Azure, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II, no training on customer data |

How the two are built.
Langdock describes itself as a platform for AI in the company. The guiding question: how do all employees get secure access to good models, and how do departments build their own agents and workflows from them? The breadth follows from that: chat with over forty models, agents with their own knowledge, workflows, meeting notes, an API. It is a construction kit from which each company assembles its own applications.
KoAssist is not a construction kit but a finished agent for one job. The guiding question: where does this project stand, and what has changed? KoAssist reads the specification, emails and minutes, fills the project profile with sources, keeps the schedule and puts changes up for approval. Nobody has to write instructions or maintain knowledge for it, the project itself is the knowledge.
On data protection there is little between them. Langdock hosts in the EU and names ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II, KoAssist hosts in German data centres, neither trains on customer data. The difference is whether a tool first has to be set up for project delivery or is built for it.
When does Langdock fit?
When the first goal is general AI access for all departments, meaning chat with different models and agents that departments set up and maintain themselves.
For project delivery in plant engineering, the question then remains who builds and maintains the agent for profile, schedule and changes. KoAssist takes that work off your hands.
When is KoAssist the better choice?
When the problem is the project status. Excel lists, OneNote and inboxes pulled together by hand are the norm in machine and plant building. KoAssist is built for exactly that and works from the first specification, without anyone having to design an agent first.
When every item has to be backed by a source. In the profile every item shows file and page, and every change from an email or from the team arrives as a proposal with its source. For an acceptance, a customer query or a handover to colleagues, that is the difference.
When drawings, PDM and PLM are part of it. The drawing check against your own design guidelines and the connection to engineering systems are part of the product. A general platform does not cover these structures by itself.
A postponed acceptance, two ways
A project manager runs an assembly line project. The customer writes that the hall will be finished later and acceptance moves back a week. The same day, assembly reports that a motor will arrive later, and a new version of the specification lands in the project folder.
With Langdock the team can build an agent that reads emails and writes notes. That takes instructions, knowledge, actions and someone who maintains the agent. The project status itself, meaning profile, schedule and open points, stays where it was and still has to be updated by hand.
With KoAssist the agent recognises that the email belongs to the project and proposes the new acceptance date. The note from assembly lands in the schedule, the new specification version is compared, and whatever is missing goes on the list of questions for the customer. The project manager accepts with one click, and everyone on the team sees the same status.
Anyone who already has an AI platform in house can rebuild parts of this. The question then remains who designs, maintains and keeps the agent current with every new project. KoAssist is ready for this workflow.
